We are holding our annual “Have a Go Session for Women and Girls” on Monday 29 May from 10 – 2 at the club.
Run by BDCC’s female coaches and paddlers, this is a free event for women and girls aged 8 -80+, and gives them a chance to try canoeing and kayaking.
We have a great history of female paddlers at BDCC.
Racing:
At the very top level, Angela Hannah competed at the London and Rio Olympics, and is on the 2017 World Cup squad.
This year she has been joined on the World Cup squad by Amy Turner, who has progressed through the Girls for Gold scheme.
Many of our paddlers have won national titles and medals in both sprint and marathon from aged 12 through to the Masters age groups.
Coaching:
Our Club Competition Coach is a woman – Alice Murphy, and we have a higher than average number of qualified female coaches within the club, most of whom have gained their coaching qualifications through the support of the club.
