Just before Christmas we had the annual BDCC Christmas Relay – the most bitterly fought contest of the year.
Over 70 paddlers took part from Lightnings to our Div 1 internationals, and we even had some visitors from other clubs who werebrave enough to get involved
The teams were carefully put together by the Chairman to be as balanced as possible – which did nothing to stop claims of favouritism. Needless to say,new rules and gamesmanship (aka cheating) occurred throughout. Despite the high waters and new K2 partnerships there was only one swimmer – an all-time low record.
Arthur U was the anchor leg of the first team home, followed by Robin F (“celebrating” his 21st birthday) and Joe P 3rd. The tightest finish of the day was between Alice M and our Worcester visitor Katie B.
Sadly, there were too many spectators, so the last paddlers may have missed out on the mulled wine, but there was still plenty of cake and mince pies.
